A person has died in a Perth apartment fire which police believe was deliberately sparked.
The blaze started in a block of units in Mosman Park, in the city's west, about 4.30pm (WST).
Police say the dead person had not yet been identified, but no one else in the small apartment complex was injured.
Inspector Mal Anderson says arson squad detectives are on the scene and the fire is being treated as suspicious.
Insp Anderson said an explosion was heard before the fire broke out.
"There's been an explosion in a unit in the group of six or eight units which has resulted in a very intense fire in which one person has died," he said.
"It was a very intense fire so we have no idea who the deceased person is at the moment and it may take some time to find out."
