I have brown patches on my lawns i had the last year also.
Can anyone help me and what can i use to get rid of the prickles in the lawns

Brown patches in your lawn can be caused from a number of things, from lack of or water to beetle or or fungal diseases , some pictures may be handy

Chlorine is acidic grass has probably died you can try a lime mixture in water to try to revive to get some growth.
Prickles in the lawn is normally bindii. If the flowers have finished and fruit (prickle) is forming you are probably too late this year, if not try a product called Kamba and use at label rates I believe it is 10ml/lt. You will need 3 sprays 3 to 4 weeks apart as they have a staggerd germination. This normally completed before the end of July hence my previous statement. tO OBTAIN kAMBA you will need to go to a rural store as hardware stores and nurseries are only allowed to sell rtu products except for Roundup/glyphosate. Kamba will not damage grasses.
